Bonin White-eye

Bonin White-eye
Apalopteron familiare
Meguro (size: 14cm)

The Bonin White-eye is a small, yellow and grey bird, endemic to Hahajima, one of the Ogasawara Islands. Until recently, this bird was considered to belong to the Meliphagidae family of honeyeaters and was called the Bonin Honeyeater. However, DNA studies show that in fact it belongs to Apalopteron family.
